El Gato Negro

El Gato Negro was read and workshopped in the spring of 2016 in Los Angeles, by musicians of the Young Musicians Foundation Young Composers Program, and subsequently recorded in the fall of 2018, by Haziel Angeles.
The piece's playful, virtuosic nature highlights the expressive capacity of both the flute's bright and mellow registers in percussive and lyrical passages. The piece is a companion to the following painting by Russian-Israeli artist Luba Kapzan:
